- Optional Activities
- Dumaguete has a wealth of places to explore; spend the morning shopping at a local market and lapping up the local culture, take a city tour, or enjoy a day in the mountains and take in the lush tropical countryside, natural pools and waterfalls. Dumaguete also has golf courses, an exciting zip line or try a modern mall or local shops to buy souvenirs from.
Below are a couple of examples of optional tours available:
Drive 20 minutes south and you are in Malatapay, home of the only open-air market in Negros. Experience the traditional Philippine "barter" system. The locals from Apo Island and the surrounding mountains eagerly trade livestock, fish, exotic fruits, strange vegetables and household items. Sample some lechon baboy (roast pork) and a cold San Miguel beer while sitting on the beach. The market operates on Wednesdays.
Take an exciting 4x4 ride up into the mountains to the west of Valencia. At the end of the road, you hike for 60 minutes to reach the highest waterfall in Negros. The water plummets 40 metres into a "Jurassic Park” like grotto; here you can freshen up with a brisk swim in the cool mountain water. This is a truly unique place and Atlantis strongly recommend you take the time to experience its beauty.
- Well what can I say, Atlantis Puerto Galera and Atlantis Dumaguete totally exceeded my expectations! I felt a genuine warm welcome on arrival at both of these resorts, that continued throughout my stay. The teams go out of their way to make sure you get the absolute best from your holiday, from the rooms, to the food (ohhh the food) to the dive operation I just couldn't fault them. They call the Philippines "The land of smiles" they're not wrong there.
