NAD-Lembeh and the Lembeh Strait are renowned for the peerless macro and muck diving. This wonderful resort is owner-operated and is situated in a private bay where Simon and Zee (the owners) are present on site most of the year. The inhouse dive team are second-to-none, with the 15 full-time dive guides having between them over 100 years of experience diving in Lembeh. Add to this the diver to guide ratio of a staggering 2:1, the stunning location and intimate service, and one of the biggest camera rooms in the world, and you have a diver’s paradise, especially if underwater photography is your passion!
The 10 Beachfront Rooms are directly by the beach and pool, adjacent rooms are perfect for groups travelling together, and the 5 Seaview Bungalows are in a secluded part of the resort and have an extra room for use as a small office or for a child. All accommodation benefits from ocean views, air conditioning, hot water, and Wi-Fi. The resort has only a few steps meaning the layout gives easy access from all rooms to the restaurant, camera room, bar, and floating jetty. The lovely open-air restaurant comfortably seats up to 40 people although it is rarely filled to capacity, and most meals are served buffet style and comprise of a sumptuous mix of various Asian dishes, along with pasta, pizza, and burgers.
Outside the restaurant, and directly facing the Strait, is a lovely little shaded grass area where you will find a small pool, jacuzzi and comfortable sun loungers that are the perfect place to relax between dives. The lush gardens have a variety of species of Frangipani, Bougainville, and Hibiscus, accented with many species of orchids. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the free of charge kayaks to get out and explore the bay. The recently built bar is the ideal spot to wind down after a day’s diving whilst enjoying the beautiful sunset overlooking the Lembeh Strait with a cold beer, glass of wine or delicious cocktail in hand. The large screen projector and 3 flat screen TVs mean that you can also catch up on the news, watch some sports, or sit back and enjoy a movie. Bar ingredients are all International standard, and the fresh herbs come from the resort’s Aquaponic Greenhouse. NAD-Lembeh are proud to be the first dive resort in the world growing its own produce in the most ecologically way possible.
The focus at NAD-Lembeh is to take your underwater photography to the next level. The resort guarantees a 2:1 guest to guide ratio making for a private dive experience, and allowing you plenty of time to take pictures. The newly renovated camera room is the centre piece of the resort and has been tailormade by Simon to cater for every underwater photographer’s needs, with a total of 30 individual workstations giving each guest a huge space with led lights, rubber mat, camera towel and 4 international/8 European power sockets including USB ports so charging all your gadgets at the same time has never been easier! The huge rinse tanks can be found in front of the camera room so that your toys can be cleaned straight after coming back from diving.
For non-diving days, the resort can arrange excursions and tours getting guests out and about to explore more of the local area. Enjoy the breath-taking scenery from viewpoints in Rurukan and the volcano Mount Mahawu or take a walk through the jungle and look for the smallest primate in the world, the Tarsier.
